About

Dan Plummer is a Lake Charles, Louisiana resident and amateur photographer. Dan grew up in Ohio enjoying drawing, fishing, camping, fossil hunting, rock climbing, photography, and all things “science”. As a college student, he chose chemistry over art as his major field of study, later earned a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry and worked in the chemical industry until retiring in 2016. Since then, he’s rekindled his love for nature as an amateur naturalist and photographer and enjoys making pictures about the world around us.

Artist Statement

My favorite subjects are landscapes that depict nature and man’s relationship - sometimes my own - to the land. Often, these landscapes exist in parks and natural areas near home and across the US in places where my wife, Sherri, and I camp in our small travel trailer. My works consist of digital and large-format film photographs as well as stereoscopic pairs of images and the occasional drawing, relief print, photolithograph, or sculpture.
