This exhibition centers on the idea that identity is not fixed. It is cultivated over time through culture, environment, relationships, memory, and personal transformation. From inherited traditions to self-discovery, from community influence to individual expression, we are seeking work that reflects the many layers of becoming.
Artists are encouraged to interpret this theme broadly. Submissions may explore personal narrative, cultural heritage, social identity, place, transformation, or the tension between who we are and who we are becoming. Whether bold and expressive or quiet and introspective, all perspectives are welcome.
Cultivated Identity is the inaugural exhibition in Cultivate Waco’s new gallery, setting the tone for this next chapter of programming. Centered on the evolving nature of identity, the exhibition brings together artists exploring how personal experience, culture, and environment shape who we are and who we are becoming.
