Description
Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center houses world-class exhibitions on national tour. Each touring exhibit is complemented with a variety of programming, including movie screenings, poetry readings, gallery talks, and live music events to enrich visitors’ experience. The center also exhibits works from local and regional artists. Three local galleries are housed within the walls of Historic City Hall; Artisans’ Gallery, Gallery by the Lake, and Black Heritage Gallery. From historic significance to brilliant artistry, the displays are truly inspirational. The original City Hall was built in 1903 and destroyed by the Great Fire of 1910. The current building opened its doors in 1911 and served as a utility of the city government for 90 years. In 2004, the City of Lake Charles refurbished and repurposed the building into an arts and cultural center. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and was designed by the notable architects Favrot and Livaudais of New Orleans. The design of the structure is Italianate, a classic design for civic buildings in the early years of the last century.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES
Exhibit Opportunities at Historic City Hall
We are always looking for new artists to display in Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center. Our center is located in the heart of downtown Lake Charles, Louisiana. We have three gorgeous floors of gallery spaces in our 1911 courthouse-turned-art center, where we host traveling exhibitions, regional/local artists, community events, cultural programming, educational field trips/guided tours, and visual and performing art workshops inside and on the grounds of our historic property.
Palette & Pour
We’re excited to announce the return of Palette & Pour, an after-hours social that celebrates local art and flavor in Lake Charles. This event pairs restaurants and artists on the front plaza of Historic City Hall, inviting attendees to sip, savor, and stroll through creative and culinary experiences. Last year’s event was a huge success, and we’re excited to build on that momentum!
We would love to invite you back to participate as one of the featured artists. Palette & Pour will take place on Thursday, March 19, from 5:00pm-7:00pm on the front plaza of Historic City Hall, and we anticipate around ~150 attendees.
There is no vendor fee. We’ll provide one 6’ table and linen for your setup. Please note that there will be no tents at this event.
Let me know if you’re interested in participating or have any questions. Thank you for considering being a part of this celebration of art, flavor, and community!
