The Arts & Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana is seeking an artist to create an original work representing our region for the upcoming National Association of County Officials national conference in New Orleans. As the host state, Louisiana has the opportunity and responsibility to show up well. This piece will help tell the story of Southwest Louisiana through the lens of The Water That Shapes Us. We are looking for a work that reflects the full region, with thoughtful consideration of the landscapes, communities, and identities across all participating parishes. The selected artwork will be transformed into a large-scale, interactive paint-by-number installation, inviting conference attendees from across the country to help bring the piece to life.
Your submission (finished piece or sketch) (maintain a 4:9 horizontal proportion) A brief artist statement (2–4 sentences) describing your approach to “The Water That Shapes Us” and how it reflects the region Finished designs should clearly communicate composition and color palette but do not need to be formatted as a paint-by-number. Concept sketches should clearly convey your idea and intended direction. If selected, the final design will be due by July 1, 2026.
